Ladies' Fellowship
Ladies' Fellowship is a caring, supportive, back-up group to the Revesby Uniting Church community and we support the extension of the wider work of the church. We are a small group of ladies who meet on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 3pm in the Meeting Room of the church, for a very informal meeting of devotion, prayer, business, fun, fellowship and caring.
We have a stall outside Woolworths in Revesby, about 4 times a year. We sell a variety of home made articles like aprons, handtowels, tea cosies, dolls clothing, children’s jumpers, baby knitting, bunny rugs, crocheted rugs, dog coats, cushions, heat packs etc. to name a few.
We feel this work is also an important part of the church’s outreach – we are a presence in the community; people know we are there each month and many just pop in to say “hullo” or request a particular item be made for them. We also participate in the Yagoona Festival with 2 stalls, usually around April.
Monies raised from our stalls are donated to various missions - the Exodus Foundation, Scripture Union, Wesley Mission, Far East Broadcasting Commission, Leprosy Mission, Mission Australia, Frontier Services and Burnside to name a few. We also purchase items for the church as requested by the Property Committee.
Once a year we invite a speaker from a particular organisation such as Leprosy Mission, Burnside or Frontier Services and extend an invitation to all members of the (wider) community, the Child Care Centre, Mirambeena Aged Care Centre and their friends to attend.
An open invitation is also extended to everyone to join us in our Christmas Night Out – usually held at Sizzlers Lansvale in November, and to a Fun and Fellowship evening with games, quizzes and yummy supper in December.
We support all the other organizations within the church too, through caring, financial support, helping at the church Market Day and providing morning teas/supper when required.
Does this sound like your kind of group? Would you like to be part of it? If so, we would be very pleased to welcome new members and any new ideas.
